Golden Raintree

The first time I saw the Golden Raintree with its intriguing yellow blossoms was upon my arrival in TN. I was so pleased with its dainty sprawling blooms in Spring and by its impressive paper lanterns in autumn. 

This year I was made aware that many people do not appreciate Golden Raintree as it is considered invasive in some parts of the world. 

I pose this question - aren't all plants invasive? Plants were meant to grow and some conditions are better than others for certain varieties. That is where putting on one's gardener hat comes in. Gardeners tend and prune to keep the plants on their land according to their preferred design. 

In the Nashville area the fallen seeds of the Golden Raintree do not often sprout until 2 years later. After that monumental event the seedlings often do not grow past the height of 3 inch seedlings. Usually this is because landscapers mow them down or the weather prevents them from thriving. 

I am thankful for seeing Golden Raintree around the area when I least expect it.
